Cyrena Nouzille wears many boots--Ladyface GM, designer, grain sherpa, foodie and beer geekess--call her the instigator. She started homebrewing in 1999 after her husband bought her "the kit" for a birthday gift. When a batch of bottle-conditioned dubbel exploded one summer, she decided that it might be just as much effort to brew 10 barrels as it was 10 gallons, and the dream was born...
David Griffiths started dreaming of a Ladyface brewery at about the same time. Possessing the patience of Saint Arnold, he is content to watch yeast get it on all day long and has developed a special talent for barrel-aged and Flemish-style ales. As head brewer at BJs Oxnard, he handled their 30-barrel production facility for several years. Dave, like Cyrena, is a Belgian beer fan and together, they made a 2008 pilgrimage trip to Westvleteren Abbey St. Sixtus. He does maintain his self-proclaimed status as a hop-head, so watch for variety on the ale menu.
Ray Luna is a bacon junkie. A long-time fan of Alice Waters, Ray followed in his father's culinary footsteps after being plunked on a counter to watch the action in a busy restaurant when he was only 4 years old. He was hooked. 22 years and 14 start-ups later, Ray has garnered his experience from prominent restaurants such as Patina Group, Spago, Bikini and Shutters; it was opening Chef at Pasadena Brewing Company that made him a beer nut.
